The United States and Cambodian governments on Tuesday released an educational guide that will help Cambodian schools improve the way their students learn, according to a media statement from the U.S. Embassy.

The Life Skills Curriculum is the culmination of an extensive collaboration between the Cambodian Ministry of Education and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the statement said, adding that the USAID has developed 30 life skills manuals.

Cambodian Minister of Education Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of Women's Affairs Ing Kantha Phavi, and USAID-Cambodia Mission Chief Rebecca Black jointly launched the manuals.

"Having a well-qualified and competitive labor force is within reach if Cambodia invests wisely in education and training," Rebecca Black said at the launching ceremony.

"This curriculum will help make education more relevant, more attractive, and more motivating for Cambodia's youth," she said. " Most importantly, it will give young people the tools they need to not only survive but to thrive in a fast-changing world."

The multi-disciplinary curriculum benefits both primary and secondary school levels and serves as a guide for Cambodia's education system, according to the statement.

"It will promote pre-vocational skills, the soft skills in business studies and information technology, and socially relevant theme skills relating to the environment, dangers of drug abuse, and other important topics," it said.
