Spanish PM to visit Tunisia, address UN General Assemblyˇˇ

Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez will visit Tunisia next week and then go to New York for the 59th UN General Assembly, local press said Wednesday.

According to the reports, Rodriguez will arrive in Tunisia on Sunday and meet with Tunisian President Zine Al-Abidine Ben Ali during a Hispanic-Tunisian summit.

In their talks, Rodriguez will stress the need to improve relations with the three main Maghreb countries, Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia. This is an issue that he highlighted during his installation speech as prime minister and in his previous visits to Morocco and Algeria.

They are also expected to discuss bilateral relations, international terrorism and immigration.

Later, Rodriguez will go to New York, the United States, to attend the 59th General Assembly of the United Nations in his first appearance at this world forum.

The reports said that in his speech at the assembly, Rodriguez will stress that international relations should be based on the respect for international laws and principles of multilateralism and cooperation.
