Danish PM: Environmental efforts, fight against financial crisis not contradictory
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2009-01-14 15:15
Efforts to stop climate change do not contradict fights against the world financial crisis, Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen said Tuesday.

Rasmussen, speaking during an interview with Chinese correspondents, noted the world needs a comprehensive agreement for controlling and stopping climate change and that at the same time all countries should ensure their economic development.

Both developed and developing countries should shoulder their due responsibility in the world's fight against climate change, he said.

"We have to find an overall agreement with a basic common principle but differentiated responsibilities," he said. " Within this framework, we must find solutions to the dissemination of new green technologies."

The prime minister said advanced nations should make sure that developing countries get access, financing and training for new technology that protects the environment.

He called for a world effort in the fight against climate change, saying all countries should stimulate green growth through the development of new technologies.
