Poland, U.S. to press ahead with stationing of Patriot missiles
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2009-02-21 14:19
The U.S. plan to station Patriot missiles in Poland was going ahead, despite the United States requiring more time to review the missile defense project in the country, Polish Defense Minister Bogdan Klich said Friday.

Poland will wait patiently while the United States calculates the outcome of the missile defense program championed by the Bush administration, but the plan to station the Patriot missiles would not be suspended, Klich told a press conference after a meeting of NATO defense ministers.

Polish and U.S. negotiators signed a deal last August to deploy parts of the latter's global missile shield in Poland. As part of the deal, the United States agreed to station Patriot missiles in the country in a bid to guarantee its security and strengthen bilateral military cooperation.
