The Geneva Communique on Syria is a consensus agreed by major world powers and leaves no place for " any interpretation," the Russian Foreign Ministry said Tuesday.

Moscow considered remarks made by the U.S. State Department on the Geneva agreement on Syria as "incorrect," Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said.

U.S. State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland said Monday that Washington and Moscow have different interpretations of the Geneva document.

"The communique agreed in Geneva last summer by all key players in the Syrian crisis, including the U.S., clearly sets a task to transfer the Syrian conflict to peaceful tracks," Lukashevich said in an on-line comment.

Public statements by the U.S. administration in support of the Syrian opposition just showed a unilateral interpretation of the Geneva document, which complicated efforts to solve the conflict via intra-Syria political dialogue, Lukashevich said.

During their contacts with the Syrian government and opposition representatives as well as key outside players, including the U.S., Russian diplomats consistently implement the mandate agreed in Geneva, and Moscow has never "made interpretations" of it, Lukashevich said. "We are going to follow that line in future too. "
