Britain to help with destruction of Syria's chemical weapons
Britain will help with the destruction of chemical weapons in Syria, the country's Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) said on Friday.
The FCO said in a statement that Britain had agreed to destroy 150 tonnes of two industrial-grade chemicals from the Syrian stockpile.
The arms are to be carried to the country and sent to a commercial site so as to be incinerated, it said.
According to a local Skynews report, a Royal Navy vessel will help Danish and Norwegian cargo ships to carry the chemicals.
"The UK is also providing specialist equipment to the U.S. to assist with the hydrolysis of the most sensitive chemicals before their final destruction," said the FCO.
