A terrorist hide was found at a park in Northern Ireland, local police said Sunday.

Police Service of Northern Ireland said a resident on Saturday reported a suspicious object to police, later the police discovered a terrorist hide containing bomb making components and explosives at Carnfunnock Country Park, near Larne.

Police said small plastic barrels had been buried in a wooded area. Inside the barrels was a significant amount of bomb making components including partially constructed devices and a small quantity of explosives.

"All of these items will be subjected to a detailed forensic examination. Until this has been completed, it is too early to link these items to any particular grouping, but we are following a number of lines of enquiry," said Gillian Kearney, detective chief inspector from Serious Crime Branch.

For safety reasons, the park is currently closed, and a clearance operation is under way.

Two explosive devices were discovered in separate alerts in west Belfast on Saturday, and both alerts have ended, according to local media.
