Croatia's new Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic is due to arrive here on Friday for a two-day visit, local media reported on Thursday.

Croatia is a friend and important partner for Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and Plenkovic's visit is expected to confirm these good bilateral relations, Denis Zvizdic, BiH Chairman of Council of Ministers, told a local TV channel on Wednesday.

"We have seen that in the past 18 months Croatia has helped us through all stages with its representatives in the EU(European Union) to accelerate the completion of the phases that have been on BiH's EU agenda," Zvizdic said.

Zvizdic is looking forward to signing a treaty on European partnership under which Croatia may offer technical and expert assistance to Sarajevo on its journey towards the EU.

Andrej Plenkovic, 46, became the prime minister of Croatia on Oct. 19. This will be his first official visit after taking office.
