Spain's consumer prices rose 1.5 percent in June when compared with the same month of a year earlier, according to advanced data from the Consumer Price Index (CPI) unveiled on Thursday by Spain's Statistical Office (INE).

The rate is 0.4 percent lower than that of May, when consumer prices had risen by 1.6 percent year-on-year. According to INE the difference was due to a drop in prices of fuel.

Spanish consumer prices rose by 3 percent in January year-on-year, they increased again by 3 percent in February, they rose by 2.3 percent in March, by 2.6 percent in April and by 1.9 percent in May. Spain's consumer prices have been rising for ten consecutive months on a year-on-year basis after having registered negative rates for eight months in a row.

On a month-to-month basis, the rate stood at 0.0 percent, showing no differences from May to June.

The INE will confirm this data on July, 13, when it will provide a more detailed explanation about the evolution of prices.
