Iran conditions nuclear cooperation on respecting its rights
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2004-09-26 16:08
Iran's chief nuclear negotiator Hassan Rowhani said Saturday Tehran's full cooperation on the nuclear issue depends on acknowledgement of its legal rights to get peaceful nuclear technology, the official IRNA news agency reported.

"Iran was ready to cooperate in abiding by the international nuclear treaties provided that its legal rights to get access to peaceful nuclear technology are fully respected," said Rowhani at a meeting with South African Ambassador to Tehran Yusuf Saloojee.

Rowhani, who will leave for South Africa on an official visit on Sunday, also reiterated the need to focus on peaceful nuclear activities as well as close cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The IAEA Board of Governors on Sept. 18 adopted a resolution which urges Iran to suspend all of the activities related to nuclear activities and fully cooperate with the inspectors to clear up all suspended issues.

Iran rejected the resolution, terming it as "illegal".
