EU to provide Jordan with $92.6m in additional assistance |

The European Union (EU) will provide Jordan with 70 million euros (about 92.6 million U.S. dollars) in additional assistance, the state-run Petra news agency reported Wednesday.
EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said the first 30 million euros (39.7 U.S. dollars) will be sent immediately while the rest will be provided in several payments.
The EU assistance to Jordan for 2011-2013, excluding the additional assistance, amounts to 223 million euros (295.0 U.S. dollars), according to the report.
On Wednesday, King Abdullah II of Jordan met with Ashton and discussed means to foster bilateral cooperation in fields of economy, politics and culture.
The Jordanian leader underlined his country's keenness to boost ties with the EU, voicing his appreciation for the EU's assistance to Jordan in different fields. |
