Israeli foreign ministry: EU conclusions on Mideast biased
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-05-15 03:52

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday said the EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC)'s conclusions on the Middle East is partial to one side.

The EU's conclusions stated that Jewish settler violence against Palestinians, settlement expansions in the West Bank and Palestinian house demolitions are detrimental to the peace process.

"It (the EU) calls on the government of Israel to bring the perpetrators to justice and to comply with its obligations under international law," the conclusions read, the Ha'aretz daily reported on Monday.

The ministry replied that Israel is committed to the well being of the Palestinian population living in the West Bank.

"(Israel) acts according to all relevant international conventions. In Area C, for instance, 119 projects were authorized in 2011, through continuous dialogue with representatives of countries and other donors, in order (to) insure that planned projects are coordinated," according to the ministry's statement.

Israel also noted that the report is a long list of "claims and criticism" based on partial "depictions of realities on the ground, " the statement said, meaning that the FAC's conclusions were mainly based on Palestinian complaints.
