A local judiciary official in Iran's southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province was assassinated in a terrorist attack, semi-official ISNA news agency reported on Wednesday.

The prosecutor of Zabol city in the province, Mousa Nouri, and his driver were killed on the way to the office on Wednesday morning, said the report.

The judiciary chief of Sistan and Baluchestan said the incident is under investigation without providing further details.

In Oct. the Pakistan-based Jaish al-Adl (The Army of Justice) group claimed responsibility for a deadly attack in a mountainous area near Saravan city bordering Pakistan, in Sistan and Baluchestan province, in which at least 14 border guards were killed.

Sistan and Baluchestan province, mostly populated by Sunni Muslims, has been the scene of bloody clashes between the Sunni rebels and the Iranian security forces.
