King Abdullah II of Jordan and King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifah of Bahrain discussed further boosting the bilateral ties on Monday, according to the state-run Petra news agency.

The two leaders reviewed the latest developments in the region as well as the efforts to fight terrorism and extremism to preserve stability and security of the region.

The meeting also tackled means to promote the military ties of the two countries, mainly that of their air forces.

The Bahraini monarch offered condolences to the Jordanian king over the pilot captured and killed by the Islamic State (IS) group, adding that he died defending his country and religion.

The two leaders also discussed the situation in Syria and Iraq, the challenges facing a number of Arab countries, as well as the need to boost the coordination among Arab countries.

Earlier on Thursday, Jordan restarted bombing the IS targets after the Jordanian pilots was captured and killed.

As the air strikes intensified, a major ground offensive against the IS, led by Iraqi forces and supported by members of a U.S.-led international anti-IS coalition, will start soon, according to a U.S. envoy for the coalition.
