U.S. President Donald Trump accepted the invitation from Singapore's President Halimah Yacob to make a state visit to the city-state in November, in conjunction with the 6th ASEAN-U.S. summit and the 13th East Asia Summit, Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Monday.

ASEAN refers to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

When meeting with Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Monday, Trump expressed his country's continued commitment to engage the region and his support for Singapore's chairmanship of ASEAN, according to the ministry's press statement.

The two leaders discussed regional and global developments at the meeting, and reaffirmed the relations between Singapore and the United States across the economic, defence, and security spheres.

Trump arrived in Singapore on Sunday for the historic meeting with top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Kim Jong Un, scheduled on Tuesday.
