Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir on Thursday decided to lift ban on Egyptian goods and allow them to enter Sudan.

"Today I signed a decision to cancel the ban on Egyptian goods and allow them to enter Sudan," said al-Bashir at a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in Khartoum Thursday.

"The main task before us is to remove the barriers which obstruct the movement of commodities and citizens between the two countries in a manner that serves the common interests," he added.

In September 2016, Sudan declared to impose a ban on the Egyptian food commodities, namely the agricultural ones, after reports that Cairo uses sanitation water in agriculture.

The Sudanese and Egyptian sides on Thursday held talks in Khartoum that culminated with the signing of a number of agreements aimed at enhancing the economic cooperation between the two countries.

Sisi arrived in Khartoum on Thursday on an official one-day visit to Sudan.
