The Iraqi Interior Ministry spokesman Monday denied bomb attacks late on Sunday night in the Iraqi capital Baghdad that reportedly killed and wounded many people, urging the media to report according to reliable sources.

Maj. Gen. Saad Maan, spokesman of the ministry told Xinhua "there were no bomb explosions, and I categorically deny what the media reported about such attacks in Baghdad."

"The security situation in all neighborhoods of the capital Baghdad is stable and the security forces are securing the city," Maan said.

He called on all "local and foreign media to commit to objectivity, professionalism and to rely on official sources in reporting."

Media reports published news about a series of bomb explosions in several areas in Baghdad that allegedly killed six people and wounded some 18 others.

Many of Iraqi cities, including Baghdad, have been witnessing tangible improvement in security after the Iraqi security forces managed to regain control of IS strongholds across the country late in 2017.
