A hospital in the midwestern U.S. state of Ohio got "all clear" on Tuesday after being locked down over a "Code Silver" alert indicating that "a potential active shooter" was inside, authorities said.

"The hospital has been cleared. No suspect located, and no witnesses or evidence to substantiate the initial complaint of a female with a firearm. ALL CLEAR," the police posted in a Facebook update.

Police officers rushed to the Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital, southeast of Cleveland, after police got reports about a woman with a gun threatening people.

"Police are on scene at Medina Hospital responding to a potential active shooter situation in the medical office building. Both the hospital and office building are on lockdown," the Cleveland Clinic tweeted.

The police were searching the hospital after receiving reports about a woman with a gun threatening people, it added.

The Cleveland Clinic said all patients and employees were safe at the hospital.
