Sudanese police on Friday announced that two protesters were killed during the demonstrations in capital Khartoum.
"A number of citizens and policemen were injured during Thursday events," Hashim Abdel-Rahim, Sudanese police spokesman, said in a statement.
"Later, one person died sustaining his injury, while another injured died on Friday morning," he added.
The spokesman denied what has been circulated by some media outlets and social media that a 14-year old boy was killed during Thursday protests, saying "the news reports about the death of a 14-year-old boy is baseless."
He reiterated that the police forces did not use live ammunition to disperse the protesters at any site of the gatherings or any other site.
Since Dec. 19, various areas in Sudan, including Khartoum, have been witnessing protests over the deteriorating economic conditions and price hikes of basic commodities.
According to government statistics, at least 26 people have been killed during the protests.
