Iran denies allegations of links to German army spy
Iran's Foreign Ministry on Sunday denied the allegations by Germany regarding the recent arrest of a suspect claimed to be spying for Iran.
"The alleged person has had no connections with Iran," the Foreign Ministry spokesman, Bahram Qasemi, said in a statement.
"We are not surprised to hear such news amid baseless accusations fabricated by those who seek to ruin Iran-Europe relations at this important and sensitive juncture," Qasemi was quoted as saying by the ministry's website.
German federal prosecutor's office said on Tuesday that they were investigating a suspected spy for Iran in Germany's army Bundeswehr.
The 50-year-old suspect is a German-Afghan national and was caught on Tuesday in western Germany.
