Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri stressed on Saturday the need for all newly appointed ministers to work together to overcome all challenges facing the country, the National News Agency (NNA) reported.
"We are a national unity government composed of several political parties but we should keep our differences aside because any disagreements will cost the government a lot," Hariri was quoted as saying by the NNA.
Hariri's remarks came during the first meeting for the council of ministers, which was aimed at forming a committee tasked with drafting the ministerial statement.
Hariri highlighted the need to implement urgent reforms, such as introducing new laws and fighting corruption and squandering of public money.
"We should unite to solve problems such as electricity, water, infrastructure in addition to issues related to industry and agricultural sectors," he said.
Lebanon announced on Thursday the formation of a new government, breaking a nine-month political deadlock in the country.
Lebanon need to take several reforms in different sectors in order to obtain 11 billion U.S. dollars in loans and grants pledged by international donors at CEDRE, an international conference in support of Lebanon's plan to revamp its ailing infrastructure and bolster its economy.
