Britain has experienced its warmest February day on record Monday as temperature reaches 20.3 degrees Celsius in Wales.
The Met Office said the history was made just after 1 p.m. at Trawsgoed in Ceredigion, Wales, when the thermometer reached 20 degrees.
It was also the first time that a temperature of over 20 degrees in winter has been recorded. It breaks the UK's record for February, set when the temperature reached 19.7 degrees Celsius in Greenwich in 1998.
Over the coming days, the Met Office forecasters said the unseasonably warm weather would continue, before the weather turns towards the end of the week.
Local media reported that Britain was hotter than Algeria on Monday, twice as hot as Athens, warmer than Ibiza and it was colder in Rome than London.
According to the Met Office the record-breaking conditions are a result of warm air combining with a period of sunshine across the UK, resulting in higher temperatures.
One year ago, Britain was enduring a freezing February caused by a widespread snow and sub-zero temperatures. Enditem
