The Iraqi foreign ministry on Sunday strongly condemned the deadly bomb attacks that hit Sri Lanka earlier in the day.
"The Iraqi Foreign Ministry condemns in strongest terms the series of bombings in Sri Lanka, which targeted churches and hotels in Colombo, Negombo and Batticaloa during a religious ceremony to celebrate Easter," the ministry said in a statement.
"The elimination of terrorism requires concerted international efforts and joint cooperation of all states around the world," the statement added.
The ministry also expressed Iraq's sympathy and solidarity with the Sri Lankan people and "its readiness to provide all needed to remove the consequences of the tragic terrorist attacks."
Earlier on Sunday, multiple explosions hit churches and hotels in Sri Lanka, killing more than 200 people and wounding 450 others, media reports quoted the Sri Lankan police as saying. Enditem
