Brazil's biggest airline company TAM (Transporte Aereo Marilia) announced on Monday that it expects to save up to 85 million reais (39 million U.S. dollars) per year by terminating contracts with outsourced firms.
The plan is part of a reorganization project aimed at hiring employees who work for firms that provide a series of services to TAM. The sectors involved are: airport teams, assistance on runways and at luggage areas, stores and telemarketing centers.
According to a press statement released by TAM, a total of 5,000 outsourced employees will be incorporated to the company's staff.
The airline company estimates it will have to spend about 50 million reais (23 million U.S. dollars) with penalty fees for breaking contracts in the next months.
However, TAM stated that it would profit from the reduction in taxation on outsourced providers staff production, as well as the reduction in costs with the commercialization of tickets, which will be sold directly to the customer.
TAM has been the market leader among Brazilian airlines for three years, and held a 51-percent share in the volume of domestic flights in October. |
