ECB report says tensions in financial markets ease
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-04-13 04:03

A European Central Bank (ECB) report said on Thursday that the tensions in financial markets in eurozone countries eased with the support of the liquidity injection of the bank and other factors.

"Developments in government bond markets in the first part of the month reflected mainly the easing of tensions in financial markets," said the Monthly Bulletin of April released by the ECB.

The report said the easing was supported by the second three-year Longer-Term Refinancing Operation (LTRO) conducted in Feburary and the agreement on the restructuring of Greek sovereign debt reached on March 9.

According to the report, the yields on AAA-rated eurozone government bonds remained broadly stable at around 2.5 percent between February 29 and April 3 this year.

The spreads of sovereign ten-year bond yields vis-a-vis those of German sovereign bonds tend to narrow further for most eurozone countries, the report said, adding that the spreads for Italy and Spain increased on the other hand.
