Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-12-05 17:12

The average retail price of regular gasoline in Japan advanced for the first time in 10 weeks to 146. 80 yen per liter as of Monday, up 1.30 yen from a week earlier, Japan's Agency for Natural Resources and Energy said Wednesday.

The average retail price of high-octane gasoline rose 1.20 yen to 157.60 yen, while that of gas oil increased 1.00 yen to 126.60 yen, according to the agency.

The institute which conducted the survey for the energy agency, the Mizuho Research Institute, predicted that the uptrend in the price of gasoline will continue due to the depreciation of the yen and unstable situations in the Middle East. (1 U.S. dollar equals to about 82 Japanese yen)
