U.S. business inventories up 0.1 pct in June

U.S. business inventories increased 0.1 percent in June after rising 0.3 percent in May, the U.S. Department of Commerce said on Wednesday.

Business inventories for May was revised from 1,936.9 billion down to 1,935.6 billion U.S. dollars, according to the department.

Manufacturers' and trade inventories, adjusted for seasonal variations but not for price changes, were estimated at an end-of-month level of 1,937.2 billion dollars in June, up 0.1 percent from May 2018 and up 4.0 percent from June 2017.

The combined value of distributive trade sales and manufacturers' shipments for June, adjusted for seasonal and trading-day differences but not for price changes, was estimated at 1,452.2 billion dollars, up 0.3 percent from May 2018 and was up 8.2 percent from June 2017.

The total business inventories/sales ratio based on seasonally adjusted data at the end of June was 1.33. The June 2017 ratio was 1.39.
