German shares gain 1.38 pct Wednesday

German stocks rose on Wednesday, with the benchmark DAX index up 148.92 points, or 1.38 percent, to close at 10,929.43 points.

European health care company Fresenius SE won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 6.86 percent. Deutsche Bank and energy group RWE rose by 5.81 percent and 3.19 percent respectively.

Marketplace organizer for the trading of shares and securities Deutsche Boerse group lost the most among the blue chips, falling 1.04 percent. Multinational chemical firm Linde down by 0.92 percent. Deutsche Post down by 0.16 percent.

Manufacturing and electronics company Siemens was the most-traded share with a turnover of 259.0 million euros (293.86 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
