The Bank of Namibia held its repo rate untouched at 6.75 percent amid slowing inflation, the bank's deputy governor Ebson Uanguta announced here on Wednesday morning.

The central bank said that the Monetary Policy Committee has maintained the repo rate at this level since August 2017.

Uanguta said the current monetary policy stance remains appropriate to maintain the one-to-one link between the South African rand and the Namibian dollar, while supporting domestic economic growth.

In December 2018, the annual inflation rate eased to 5.1 percent from 5.6 percent in the prior month, mainly due to lower price pressure from housing, utilities and fuels.
