About 10 German firms have confirmed their participation in Zambia's premier agri-business show to be held this month, an official said on Monday.

Frank Nordman, president of the German Agri Business said the delegation will be led by a seven-member ministerial team for Zambia's annual agri-tech show held in the central district of Chisamba.

In remarks delivered when he paid a courtesy call on Zambia's Ambassador to Germany Anthony Mukwita, he said the delegation will also meet Zambia's agriculture minister and share their vision for their investment in the southern African nation, according to a statement.

Zambia's premier agri-tech show will be held on April 9-12.

The official said German firms are keen to invest in Zambia's agricultural sector and has appealed to authorities for allocation of more land to facilitate the realization of its plans.

He further revealed that a firm to start producing French fries of potato chips for both the Zambian and regional market is expected to commence operations this year.

According to him, the initiative was a direct response to the increasing growing of potato business in Zambia and the region.

On his part, the Zambian envoy said the decision by the German delegation to participate at this year' agri-tech show was a clear testimony that the southern African nation was a favored investment destination.

He attributed this to a stable and friendly business environment.
