Placido Domingo is 73 years old, but has no plans to slow down yet. Let's listen as he discusses his artistic longevity, World Cup fever, and even weighs in on the abdication of the Spanish King.

Placido Domingo is known for his versatile and strong voice, and has already sung 138 different roles. Still, he intends to carry on singing.

"I'm lucky that the voice is healthy, because many people a lot younger than me, they won't sing any more, and I am still singing, and I don't know for how long, maybe for two weeks, but in any case, my plans are for three years at least, you know," Placido Domingo said.

Because of his unexpected singing longevity, he finds himself doing double duty as leading man and general director for the LA Opera.

"I really thought that I would be singing for a very short time, so that's the reason I started thinking about being the director of a theater, but the voice is there, so I keep singing," Domingo said.

The LA Opera is the fourth largest U.S. opera company, and acts as an anchor in the artistic and urban renaissance of downtown Los Angeles.

With the 2014 world cup approaching, Domingo expresses his love for the world's No.1 sport.

"I was goalkeeper, and I know how to throw myself into the floor, and so I was very sporty, even if I have never been what you call 'thin' thin, but I was well-prepared for the sports that I was saying," Domingo said.

He also comments on the recent announcement by Spain's King Juan Carlos that he would be abdicating the throne to his son, prince Felipe.

"I think the king did well because his father paved the way and he will pave the way for his son. The son is very well prepared, he will be an important king as his father has been," Domingo said.

Domingo will give some performances, including a big concert in Rio de Janeiro two days before the world cup final.
