Huang Dongping and Li Yinhui, world ranking 58th pair in BWF, rallied to beat the Rio Olympic Champion Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi in the women's doubles second round of China Open here on Thursday.

The top-seeded women's duo Matsutomo/Takahashi, also ranking the first in BWF, won the first set 21-14. The 21-year-old Huang and the 19-year-old Li launched the counterattack and turned the tide by winning the next two nail-biting sets 22-20, 22-20.

After women's doubles game, the Chinese young girls took part in the mixed doubles as well. With Zhang Nan, Li played strong and defeated Malaysian duo, the third-seeded Peng Soon Chan/Liu Ying Goh, 21-17, 21-19.

Huang seemed to get tired after tough game against Japanese pair, and failed to play further with Liu Cheng after losing to Yoo Yeon Seong/Chang Ye Na from South Korea.

"I played both women's doubles and mixed doubles in many tournaments this year. The two matches were set too close today. But I'm young and I can keep the pace. Zhang Nan played stronger and took over lots of offense."

Rio Olympic champion Chen Long advanced to the quarterfinals in men' s doubles game by crushing out the compatriot Shi Yuqi, 20-year-old shuttler who won the champion in French Open weeks ago.

"Shi made improvements very quickly. He needs more games and does not feel any pressure. Most important thing is he' s much younger than me. We play together to push each other, to motivate each other. That is good competition," said Chen

The 19-year-old He Bingjiao, three titles winner in French Open, Bitburger Open and Japan Open this season, beat Porntip Buranaprasertsuk from Thailand, 22-20 21-15.

Top seeded men's pair Chai Biao/Hong Wei kept advancing by eliminating compatriots Lu Kai/Zheng Siwei. Zheng and 19-year-old girl Chen Qingchen, three champions of the previous BWF tournaments, stepped into the quarterfinals by defeating Indonesian duo Ronald Alexander/Melati Daeva Okeavianti, 21-12, 21-19.
