Czech President Milos Zeman said the general election for the legislature will be held on Oct. 20 and 21, Zeman's spokesman Jiri Ovcacek said Wednesday.
According to Czech constitution, Zeman must call the election at least 90 days before it is held and the election must be held 30 days before the four-year term ends, which this time is before Oct. 26, 2017.
Parties will have to submit their lists of candidates before Aug. 15. Regional offices and Prague City Hall will make a decision on which of the parties and movements will be allowed to run in the election by Sept. 1.
The campaign for the general election will start on Oct. 4, 2017.
