Five-time champion Venus Williams fought back from one set down to beat China's Wang Qiang to reach the third round at Wimbledon here on Wednesday.

The 37-year-old, the oldest woman in the Wimbledon drawn, took one hour and 49 minutes to win 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.

Williams, who only missed one Championships since her first in 1997, looked in danger after wasting a 4-2 lead in the first set, but found her form soon in the second against the world No. 55, whom she beat in the first round of French Open.

"Paris was straight sets," Williams said. "Completely different surface. I think she just toward the end of the first set started landing a lot of shots. I didn't do a ton wrong. She just had an opportunity to be more aggressive."

"There are moments where your opponent seems to have momentum, but I was always thinking about how I could turn it and what I could do to turn it towards my way. That was my focus today."
