Belarus registered deflation in July, the National Statistical Committee of Belarus reported on Thursday.

The Statistical Committee said prices for goods and services in July fell by 0.1 percent compared with June 2017. The deflation was achieved due to a decrease in the cost of products, an average of 0.7 percent.

In July, prices for non-food products and prices for services increased by 0.4 percent and 0.6 percent respectively compared with June.

In January-July 2017, inflation in Belarus amounted to 3.3 percent.

Belarus's last deflation occurred in August 2016, which led to a seasonal decline in the cost of vegetables and fruits.

The government predicts that prices for goods and services will rise by no more than 9 percent this year.

Over the past year, prices for goods and services in Belarus increased by 10.6 percent. Enditem
