Disney and Pixar's animated "Coco" continued to lead North American box office for the second weekend in a row with a solid 26.1 million U.S. dollars, pushing its worldwide total to an impressive 280 million U.S. dollars through Sunday.

The animated comedy has been embraced by both critics and audiences. It tells the story of 12-year-old boy, Miguel, who dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz, despite his family's baffling generations-old ban on music. Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events.

" 'Coco' continues to play a perfect box office tune while creating tremendous enthusiasm with audiences who have embraced the film and are making it one of the holiday season's 'must see' moviegoing events," movie analyst Paul Dergarabedian at comScore told Xinhua.

In second place, Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment's "Justice League" took in an estimated 16.58 million U.S. dollars in its third weekend. The superhero film is on track to earn 197.3 million U.S. dollars after 17 days in North American theaters.

"Justice League" is based on the DC Comics superhero team of the same name, consisting of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg. It's the fifth installment in the DC Extended Universe.

Lionsgate's heartwarming and brilliant family drama "Wonder" landed in the third place with an estimated 12.5 million U.S. dollars in its third weekend, bringing its North American cume to more than 88 million U.S. dollars to date. Based on the 2012 children's novel of the same name by R.J. Palacio, the film follows a fifth grader with a facial deformity trying to fit in.

Coming in fourth, Disney and Marvel's "Thor: Ragnarok" brought in an estimated 9.65 million U.S. dollars in its fifth weekend, pushing its total to 291.4 million dollars after 31 days in North American theaters.

Paramount's Christmas-themed comedy "Daddy's Home 2" finished fifth with an estimated 7.5 million U.S. dollars in its fourth weekend, bringing its North American cume to 82.81 million U.S. dollars.
