The U.S. city of Baltimore on Sunday found a reason to be thankful as it was the 10th day the city has been homicide-free, the longest stretch since 2014.

The last reported homicide in the city occurred on Feb. 1, in which a 27-year-old was fatally shot in the eastern part of the city.

"I am losing my mind thrilled," said Erricka Bridgeford, a local anti-violence advocate.

Bridgeford has organized a cease-fire starting Feb. 2. She said she hopes this "exciting" streak will continue.

Bridgeford tried to organize cease-fires in 2017, but failed.

Baltimore is one of the most violent cities in the United States, registering 343 homicides in 2017 and 318 in 2016.

The first 12 days of 2018 saw 11 killings.

According to local paper the Baltimore Sun, the longest streak in Baltimore without a homicide came in March 2014, when the city spent 17 days without a homicide.

That month saw seven killings, the fewest in a month since 1970.
