A Journey of Understanding China - Punjabi media delegation--China Economic Net

BEIJING, July 2 (China Economic Net) - A 12-member delegation comprised of journalists and intellectuals from Punjab ended their 5-day visit to China on last Friday. The tour is part of the efforts of the Chinese Consulate in Lahore for enhancing Pakistani media's understanding of China and promoting bilateral relations.

Welcomed by China Economic Net, the itinerary of the delegation covers visits of enterprises undertaking projects under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), government agencies, and Chinese cultural centers.

China Huaneng, the major contractor of the Sahiwal Coal Power Project, received the delegation, apprising them of the operational status, green development and social responsibility of the project, highlighting its role in power supply, providing employment opportunities, and building a sustainable environment for the local community.

While Chief Engineer of China Railway International, Mr. Zhu Zhexun briefed the delegation about the general design of the Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT), and contributions it will bring to the economic development of Lahore.

To learn about the latest development of China's e-commerce, the delegation has been invited to visit one of the exhibition centers of Alibaba Group, which demonstrate its e-commerce matrix, including online shopping portal, intelligent logistics, cloud computing and online payment system.

Apart from visiting Chinese enterprises, the delegation has held in-depth discussions with staff of China International Culture Exchange Center, at which occasion they reflected the shortage of Chinese cultural centers in Pakistan, and suggested more cooperation in this regard. Mr. Xu Honghai, Secretary General of the Center expressed concern about this issue, and determined to make efforts accordingly to promote cultural ties between the two countries.

Talking to China Economic Net, the delegation said "We think this journey of understanding China is fruitful, and look forward to more activities like this to promote people-to-people exchanges between China and Pakistan."
