ISLAMABAD, Nov. 23 (China Economic Net) - The awarding ceremony of the second "China-Pakistan Economic Corridor(CPEC) Golden Anchor Award" was held here in Nov. 22, 2019. Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing and Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed awarded the prize to the media staff of China and Pakistan.

In his speech, Ambassador Yao Jing spoke highly of the positive role of China-Pakistan media cooperation. He encouraged the media of the two countries to make further efforts to create a favorable atmosphere of public opinion for the construction of CPEC.

Cui Jun, Editor in Chief of China Economic Net, said the CPEC construction requires a good public opinion environment and objective and fair media coverage. Economic Daily and China Economic Net not only have set up special reporting teams and columns for CPEC, but also cooperate with some news agencies, TV stations and newspapers in Pakistan to jointly promote its construction and China-Pakistan economic and trade development.

This year, totally ten media staff were awarded the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Golden Anchor Award for their contributions in strengthening CPEC and China Pakistan relations. The Chinese winners were Zhou Rong of Guangming Daily, Wang Qi of China Media Group, Ding Xuezhen of People’s Daily, Liu Tian of Xinhua News Agency, and Cui Ru of China Media Group.

The Pakistani winners included Javed Akhtar of INP, Mehtab Haider of The News, Saleem Safi of Geo TV, Mian Abrar Hussain of Pakistan Today, and Yasir Habib Khan.

The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Golden Anchor Award, initiated by China Economic Net, was officially launched in September 2018. The awards are designed to encourage the Chinese and Pakistani media to report objectively, truthfully and vividly on CPEC, and to establish media exchange mechanism between the media of the two countries, and between the media and the society, promoting smooth and efficient implementation of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects.
