ISLAMABAD, Nov. 10 (Gwadar Pro) - There is numerous feasibility for olive cultivation in Pakistan and Baluchistan has amplified the production of olives through plantation. Pakistan's export of olive oil to China can be considered as a potential opportunity, said Gu Wenliang, Agricultural Commissioner of Chinese Embassy in Pakistan on the 16th session of PAS Agriculture Policy Debate themed with “Oilseed Crop Production and Supply Chain”.

He further introduced that some of the edible oils consumed by China need to be imported directly from abroad or processed using imported plant oilseeds. In 2018, the edible oil consumption of China reached more than 37m tons but the total production is only around 27m tons. “The diet structure of the Chinese people has been continuously optimized in the last 40 years, so the development trend of the edible oil production industry is towards safety, health, nutrition, etc. So most Chinese prefer olive oil, which is considered to be the most nutritionally suitable oil ever found for human.”
