Cuban Paralympic athlete Yunidis Castillo is taking home three gold medals from the 2013 IPC Athletics World Championships, which concluded Sunday in Lyon, France.

In her latest victory Saturday, Castillo won the 100-meter dash in the T46 category (upper limb amputees) with a time of 12.90 seconds despite problems plaguing her right leg and a strong headwind that blew at 5.2 meters per second.

Russia's Nikol Rodomakina took the silver by 13.21 and Poland's Alicja Fiodorow on third by 13.55.

"I fulfilled the goals I had set for myself, for Cuban sports and for our country," Castillo told Cuban media, admitting "my times weren't the best."

On Thursday, Castillo won the 200-meter run in 24.66 seconds, slowing down in the final stretch at Lyon's Parilly Stadium after having led the pack for a substantial distance.

Winners of the silver and bronze medals were South Africa's Alrune Liebenberg (26.05) and Fiodorow (26.16).

On Monday, Cuba's star Paralympian garnered the gold in the 400- meter race with a time of 56.58 seconds, ahead of Liebenberg (56. 78) and Brazil's Teresinha Santos (59.31).

Cuba's six-member women's delegation had by late afternoon Sunday collectively won five gold medals, a silver and two bronze, to place 13th in the medals rankings following 199 of the 215 competitions. Russia led the overall medals by 26-16-11, followed by the United States (16-16-17) and Brazil (15-10-13).

Castillo is Cuba's most award-winning Paralympic athlete, including awards won at the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympics.

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) championships began July 19.
