Umut Ergunsu, PhD candidate at Peking University's School of International Studies, is receiving an exclusive interview by China Economic Net on March 10, 2016.

During China's ongoing "Two Sessions", China Economic Net had an exclusive interview with Umut Ergunsu, PhD candidate at Peking University's School of International Studies, on March 10, 2016. The Turkish student said that setting up a 6.5-7% growth target for the first time in two decades, demonstrates that China wants to reassure global markets and boost confidence over Chinese economy.

China's long-term development depends highly on the success of those second round of economic reforms. It is very unlikely that these reforms would result in high GDP growth rates as was the case with the first 30 years of "opening up". To implement the economic reforms, he believed that China should control the rising debt, rising unemployment, decrease over-capacity and increase consumption.

The last point he would like to touch on about the "Two Sessions" is the green development and environmental protection. He addressed that "to achieve green development, there are certain actions to be taken, those actions include tightening regulations and increasing controls, but these are not enough since the governments have limited man power to control every manufacturing facility." He also commented that media can contribute quite a lot to environmental protection.
