Brazil names Olympic beach volleyball squad
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-06-29 13:51

Brazilian beach volleyball veteran Emanuel Rego says he is eager to impart his 16-year Olympic experience on his younger teammates at the London Olympics.

The 39-year-old was confirmed as Alison Cerutti' s partner when Brazil' s Volleyball Confederation (CBV) announced its four pairings for the London Games at a press conference on Thursday.

The other teams will be Ricardo Santos-Pedro Cunha, Juliana Felisberta-Larissa Franca and Talita Atunes-Maria Elisa.

Rego, who won the gold medal alongside Santos at the 2004 Athens Games, will be competing in his fifth consecutive Olympics, having made his debut at the 1996 competition in Atlanta.

"It has always been a part of my career to bring experience to the team," Rego said.

"Alison has shown that he likes to learn and I feel younger playing with him."

Despite playing together for eight years, Franca will compete in the Olympics for the first time alongside Felisberta, who suffered an injury days before the 2008 Beijing Games.

"Those bad days have been left behind," Felisberta said. "That experience only made me stronger."
