Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-07-11 15:17

President of the Russian Olympic Committee Alexander Zhukov announced Tuesday the country will send 436 athletes to the London Olympics.

The final number, slightly fewer than 468 in Beijing Olympics in 2008, was confirmed after a meeting among officials from the Russian Olympic Committee and the Sports Ministry.

A total of 208 men and 228 women from 59 Russian regions will embark for London, Zhukov said, "the Russian team is totally prepared."

Also on Tuesday, Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said that the Russian team will be free of doping scandals at the London Olympics.

"The whole team will pass doping control at 100 percent...We can be relaxed about the team," Mutko said.

He noted the country has changed its doping control system to ensure a clean team, adding that the results of the changing will be presented in the new generation of athletes.

London Olympic Games are slated for July 27 to August 12. Russia has set a minimum target of 25 gold medals in London, in a bid to reach a top-three place in the medal table.

In 2008 Beijing Olympics, Russians won 23 gold medals for the third place, behind China (51 golds) and the United States (36).
