Brazil announces men's Olympic basketball squad

Brazil basketball coach Ruben Magnano has included four NBA stars in his 12-man squad for the Olympic Games.

Center Nene Hilario (Washington Wizards), guard Leandrinho Barbosa (Indiana Pacers), center Tiago Splitter (San Antonio Spurs) and power forward Anderson Varejao (Cleveland Cavaliers) were confirmed in the team on Friday.

Among the last to be cut from the final list were guard Matheus Dalla and power forward Augusto Lima.

The team will play the United States in Washington on Friday before travelling to France for an Olympic warm-up tournament in Strasbourg.

The list was announced a day after Brazil won the Super 4 tournament in Foz do Iguacu with a 91-75 victory over Argentina in the final.

Brazil squad:

Point guards: Marcelo Huertas (Barcelona), Larry James Taylor (Bauru), Raul Togni Neto 'Raulzinho' (Lagun Aro)

Shooting guards: Leandrinho Barbosa (Indiana Pacers), Marcelo Machado (Flamengo), Marcos Vinicius 'Marquinhos' (Flamengo), Alex Garcia (Brasilia).

Power forwards: Anderson Varejao (Cleveland Cavaliers), Guilherme Giovannoni (Brasilia).

Centers: Tiago Splitter (San Antonio Spurs), Maybyner Rodney Hilario 'Nene' (Washington Wizards), Caio Torres (Flamengo)
