Beijing, Jun. 15 (China Economic Net) - The 2015 International Conference on Food Safety kicked off in Beijing on Monday. This is the largest international conference of the highest standard ever hosted by CFDA for the field of food safety supervision since its foundation in 2013.

With the booming of Chinese economy and the deepening of globalization of the food industry, China is becoming the world's largest producer and the largest consumer of food, playing an increasingly important role in the field of global food safety.

As food safety is becoming a global issue, the enhancement of communication and cooperation in food safety supervision has received increasing attention. International cooperation on food safety counts not only for the health of people around the world, but also for the sustainable development of food trade and the governance of governments.

With "Food Safety, International Governance" as the theme, this conference was convened with distinguished guests from four major food-safety-related international organizations and regulatory authorities of more than 20 countries and regions, officials from Chinese government and its food-safety-related ministries, and representatives from academic institutions and the food industry around the world, who shared their views about the international governance framework, legal systems, risks, and standards of food safety, and quality control and safety of dairy products.

This conference will be a new platform of communication for international regulatory bodies of food safety and committed to addressing the common issues and strengthening the international consensus so as to push forward with the global food safety.

This conference is hosted by CFDA, and co-organized by UNIDO, WHO and the Netherlands Embassy to China. It is undertaken by China Center for Food and Drug International Exchange and China Economy Net.
