Shopping mall to open near airport
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2004-04-17 10:10

A new shopping mall will open at Pudong International Airport in October, Shanghai Airport Authority said yesterday.

The three-story 28,000-square-meter PD Mall, near the terminal building, will serve both shoppers and traders arriving and leaving the airport.

The mall is busy inviting tenants to cater to more than 25 million passengers a year, the airport authority, an investor in the mall, said.

"The mall will target contemporary fashion brands such as Esprit and Morgan," said Mark Hsiao, an official with Perfect Power San Cai Development Co Ltd, which is responsible for inviting tenants.

"We are in talks with more than 10 brands and eventually we will invite about 95."

Women's fashion, banking services and a travel service offering national and city tours will be available on the first floor.

The company is in talks with China Travel Service, Youth Travel Service and China International Travel Service to invite one of them.

The bank will offer foreign currency exchange services.

The second floor will have men's fashion and a business center with service equivalent to a five-star hotel.

The third floor will have 26 restaurants covering eastern and western food at prices which the developer said would be "quite reasonable."

The mall will also act as a trading center, as all the brands are open for business cooperation including retailing, wholesaling, agency business and franchising.

A shuttle bus will be run every three minutes between the terminal building and the mall.
