Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc on Saturday hailed economic ties with China, saying there is a huge potential to be tapped for the two countries to further strengthen their economic cooperation.

Boc made the remarks during a visit to a local well-known company in the eastern town of Galati.

As this year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, Boc said he was pleased to visit the enterprise, an example of fruitful bilateral cooperation.

The Romanian company has in the past two years imported production lines and complete sets of high-tech equipment from China.

The premier noted the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the context of the global financial and economic crisis and said there is still a vast potential in this regard.

He told Wang Tieshan, the Chinese Consul General in Constanta, that he had recently sent some high-ranking officials to China to explore ways of bringing bilateral trade and economic cooperation to a new level.

Wang said that more and more Romanian enterprises are willing to establish closer cooperative ties with their Chinese counterparts.

The Chinese government is ready to make great efforts to promote bilateral economic and trade cooperation, Wang said. He expressed the belief that the Romanian government would strive to provide a better environment for investors and entrepreneurs from both countries.
