Heavy snowfalls in Macedonia have brought traffic chaos in the small western Balkan country, local media reported Monday.
Flow of traffic on the roads is slow due to the snow fall, with heavy vehicles being banned at some road sections, MIA, Macedonia's official news agency, reported.
Trains to and from the central station in capital Skopje have suffered delays. The Skopje bus station has also reported delays in inter-city traffic.
Skopje airport "Alexander the Great" has been closed for the day. Planes have been re-directed to Istanbul in Turkey and Sofia in Bulgaria.
It was reported that the snowfalls, which began since Monday morning, will intensify in evening, accompanied by northeast winds.
It was forecast that the snow will continue to fall into Tuesday and not stop until Wednesday. |
