A former Fudan University student was sentenced to death for poisoning his roommate to death, the Shanghai No.2 Intermediate People's Court ruled this morning.

The convict Lin Senhao, 28, a medical postgraduate, appeared in the courtroom in an army green coat under the company of two bailiffs.

The court said Lin held a grudge against Huang Yang who was also a medical postgraduate at Fudan, over trivial matters.

He kept his head down or wore a poker face when listening to the judge who reviewed the whole case and evidences before announcing the verdict.

"There was not a single moment that I think I would forgive the poisoner," Huang's father told the media before today's hearing.
